Haciendo un resumen del tip viajero, sería algo así:

• Se pide un Challenge en United, es como un status match, pero dura menos tiempo. En este caso, 120 días.
• La Categoría en United puede ser pedida con la Categoría de Smiles. Por ejemplo, con una categoría Diamante te dan casi la más alta de United, que es la Platinum. Recordemos que se puede conseguir muy fácil la categoría Diamante de Smiles, sólo con el club 20.000. Muy fácil, porque otras aerolíneas te piden que pagues y vueles hasta el cansancio para darte una categoría alta, Smiles solo te pide que pagues el club más alto, que además te da una bolsa de millas y acceso a todas las promos.
• United es miembro de la alianza Star Alliance
• Esa categoría Platinum de United equivale a Gold en Star Alliance.
• Siendo Gold de Star Alliance podés ahora pedir prioridad en el counter, prioridad en el embarque, y la hermosa valija extra en todos tus vuelos con Star Alliance
• ¿Pero quienes integran Star Alliance? Todas estas aerolíneas, de las cuales tenemos TRES al menos, para volar en nuestros próximos viajes:

¿Cómo pedis un challenge en United?

Primero te registrás en United https://www.united.com/es/ES/account/enroll/profile

Luego, recibirás este mail. Y deberás confirmar tu dirección de mail.

Después inicias sesión en este link, y completás los datos que pide: https://promo.united.com/offers/statusmatch

En este caso, subimos el PDF de la categoría Diamante de uno de los viajeros. Destacamos YO no pude hacer otro challenge, ya que se permite UNA ÚNICA vez cada 5 años, y yo ya lo había pedido el año pasado.

Además, también pedís DESDE QUÉ FECHA vas a querer la categoría. En nuestro caso, pusimos la fecha TRES días antes del primer vuelo (siempre dejando esa luz por si hay que reclamar algo).

Finalmente, enviamos los datos, y luego de unos 10 segundos de análisis recibimos la aprobación de lo presentado y la solicitud:

Esa categoría Platinum, es la segunda más alta de United. Tres valijas despachadas en vuelos de United:

Conclusión

Este post intenta mostrarles no sólo algunos beneficios extra que podrías obtener en vuelos de muchas aerolíneas, sino además de qué se trata la inteligencia millera. Cómo deberías algunas veces apostar a un club más alto en algún programa para obtener categoría y hacerla valer en otros, cuándo estas posibilidades aparecen.

No siempre se consiguen los Status Match ni los Challenge, pero sí SIEMPRE deberías estar preparado y NUNCA dejar pasar una oportunidad.

4. Premier membership materials will not be issued for the 120-day offer period. You may enjoy Premier benefits on United- or United Express-operated flights by providing your account number when making reservations or at check-in. During the 120-day offer period, you may not have access to all reciprocal Premier benefits with United’s partners, including access to Star Alliance lounges.
5. Through this offer, you will not be able to qualify for a higher Premier status level than the one you are matched to in MileagePlus, even if you will fly more than qualifying travel requirements during the offer period. However, you will be able to qualify to a higher status level if you reach one of the published qualification thresholds for Premier status.
6. If you are unable to complete the PQF and PQP requirements within the 120-day offer period, your matched MileagePlus Premier status will expire, and you may be returned to a lower earned Premier level, or general member status, at United’s sole discretion.
7. Qualifying PQF and PQP must be posted to your MileagePlus account.
8. Offer valid for qualifying paid travel completed within 120 days from time of account upgrade (the «offer period»).
9. Participation does not guarantee Premier status. Matched status will expire after 120 days unless the matched level or a higher level of Premier status is earned or awarded prior to that date.
10. Offer only valid on flights operated by United and United Express. Not valid on United-marketed codeshare flights operated by other carriers. Flights must be posted to the MileagePlus account in order to qualify. PQP earned for the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges count toward this offer. PQP and PQF earned from United and United Express travel on MileagePlus Award tickets or where members have selected Money + Miles as their payment option are eligible towards this offer. PQP earned from Economy Plus seating, preferred seat purchases, MileagePlus Upgrade Award co-pays, paid upgrades do count towards this offer. 12. Earned 2024 Premier status is valid through January 2025. The MileagePlus status is valid through January 2026 for customers who earn Premier status through this promotion on or after July 1, 2024.
13. Upon meeting the PQF and PQP requirements to qualify for Premier Platinum status through this offer, members will be awarded 20 PlusPoints, which will be credited to their account within 7-10 business days. PlusPoints will not otherwise be awarded based on matched status or status reached through the MileagePlus Premier Status Match challenge.
